Specialised illustration
CAD image colorization
CAD output is made for engineers. Handed to a customer, a procurement team or a sales prospect, a monochrome line drawing communicates far less than the same geometry with materials, depth and a highlighted assembly.
Overview
What this service covers
We take CAD exports and turn them into presentation-quality coloured illustrations, keeping the geometry exactly as drawn while adding material differentiation, shading and emphasis.
This is not a full 3D render. It is illustration built on your existing drawings, which is faster, cheaper, and keeps drawings that engineering has already approved.
Process
Four stages, each with an approval point
File preparation
CAD exports cleaned and organised into a usable illustration base.
Colour convention
A material and colour scheme agreed and documented before production.
Colourisation
Drawings coloured, shaded and highlighted to that scheme.
Delivery
Layered files plus flattened print and screen versions.
What we provide
The deliverables, item by item
Material differentiation
Metals, plastics, glass and composites distinguished by colour and finish treatment.
Shading and depth
Tonal work that makes an assembly legible without obscuring the line work.
Component highlighting
Selected parts emphasised for service, sales or training documentation.
Exploded colour views
Coloured exploded assemblies showing how components relate.
Background and context
Environments or scale references added where they aid understanding.
Layered output
Colour kept on separate layers so the underlying drawing stays intact.
Who it suits

Benefits
What you get out of it
Reuses approved geometry
The engineering drawing stays authoritative; only presentation changes.
Faster than 3D rendering
No model rebuilding, no render farm, no scene setup.
Consistent material language
One colour scheme across an entire documentation set.
Editable afterwards
Layers mean a component can be recoloured without redoing the drawing.
